Baselworld 2018 was the ideal setting for Rolex’ unveiling of the new Oyster Perpetual Deepsea. The 44mm piece’s redesigned curves—in the form of updated lugs, and sides and a broader Oyster bracelet (complete with the adapted Oysterlock folding safety clasp) come together to form a watch made for explorers.
The sporty chronometer is crafted from Oystersteel and features a D-blue dial with a deep blue to pitch-black gradient. The unique dial launched in 2014 to mark the DEEPSEA CHALLENGE expedition.
The professional dive watch carries the weight of unparalleled innovation even in the deepest depths of the sea. The Oyster case ensures astonishing resistance to pressure without making concessions to size or thickness, and the resulting Ringlock System, a patented case architecture, allows the Rolex Deepsea to withstand the crushing pressure exerted at extreme depths. A multi-directional rotatable bezel is fitted with a 60-minute graduated Cerachrom insert in black ceramic that allows divers to monitor their underwater and decompression time for safety, and the knurled edge has effortless grip when setting dive time, even while wearing gloves.
