Black as Night or Clear as Day—Hublot Big Bang MP-11
There is something effortlessly alluring about the colour black. A bit mysterious with a hint of dare, reminiscent of inky skies, polished leather and now, Hublot’s newest technological triumph, the Big Bang MP-11 in 3D carbon.
A long-time leader in the creation of new materials, the latest innovation is carbon 3D, a feather light material comprised of composed of polymer matrix with three-dimensional fibres, which has never before been used in watchmaking and works brilliantly to showcase the piece’s advanced complications. The 45mm openwork case reveals the engine inspired architecture with striking views of the seven series-coupled barrels and the in-line power reserve indicator, while smoked composite sides allow the black PVD-treated mechanism to be admired. The multi-cylindrical construction, positioned on a horizontal axis, guarantees a power reserve of 14 days—an astounding achievement, and weighs in at only 90 grams (including bracelet).
Hublot’s Big Bang MP-11 is also available in a limited edition (of 200) crafted from convex sapphire. As transparent as the 3D carbon is opaque, the piece benefits from the Maison’s rarefied expertise in large scale machining of sapphire, the second most solid and resistant material in the world and exceptionally difficult to manipulate.
Both pieces display with panache Hublot’s remarkable feats of engineering and superb aesthetics. Please contact Raffi Jewellers, Yorkdale for further inquiries.
