History is defined as the study of the past; the making of history is quite another story. Swiss watch manufacturer, Jaeger-LeCoultre does both, paying tribute to discovery and exploration of times gone by—all while keeping their focus firmly on the future. The storied Maison is proud to offer an update on their Geophysic True Second timepiece. The just-released Geophysic True Second Limited Edition is a rare collector’s item—only 100 will be issued, made all the more valuable by the history that informs each one.
The inspiration for the original dates back to a legendary chronometer of exceptional accuracy and strength created in 1958 for the International Geophysical Year—a year of great progress and innovation. The iconic chronometer was bestowed on the first man to lead an expedition under the North Pole, Captain Anderson, in honour of this epic achievement.
The embodiment of Swiss expertise, combined with Jaeger-LeCoultre’s mastery, the next edition piece is enhanced with True Second, a singular complication on an automatic calibre that beats out the rhythm of every second. Its Gyrolab balance wheel of non-circular design replicates the Jaeger-LeCoultre anchor symbol, and required immense research on how to reduce the effects of air friction—lending the watch even more exceptional accuracy.
Aesthetics are equally significant to the piece; each detail has been thoughtfully considered to honour the original. An ocean blue dial sets it apart and calls to mind the sea’s endless depths; the central cross nods to the historic 1958 piece and the needles of a compass, and triple-faceted hands and the minute track around the flange are coated in luminescent material, making it a breeze to tell time in darkness.
It is with great pleasure and pride that we at Raffi offer Jaeger-LeCoultre’s sublime Geophysic True Second Limited Edition timepiece to our esteemed clients. Please contact us for further details.
